Fall Carrots, Strong and Healthy
Take a look at my pretty fall carrots. In the past I've had a troubled relationship with carrots---I seem to have a hard time germinating these little suckers and because they take a LONG time to harvest, it's kind of hard for me to justify the garden real estate they take up. But regardless of my troubled past, I plant them anyways.
One of my favorite garden pleasures is picking fresh carrots so a couple of weeks ago I tried sowing a new batch. I found carrots grown in containers are easier to grow, so I filled a pot with rich soil and scattered some seeds. I waited and waited...and nothing happened.
I tried again, only this time I placed the pot in the shade, where it only gets partial morning sun. Success! Now I wait and tend to these pretty gems.
